Mark’s family have called New Mexico home since they first arrived here hundreds of years ago, where they have built a legacy of local leadership. Mark’s grandfather Elipio Maestas was Chairman of the Rio Arriba County GOP and his great-grandfather Augustine Maestas were elected to several offices as an elected official in Rio Arriba County in the 19th century. Mark was a four-year starter for the Lobos football team and graduated with two degrees from UNM.

Mark has served our community as state Senator where he has earned the reputation of being a smart, common-sense problem solver. He believes that getting things done is more important than partisan politics. He recently led the fight to repeal the Social Security tax for seniors, and has consistently fought to keep businesses and schools open during the pandemic.

Mark and his wife Lisa are co-owners of a business in the healthcare field that has been on the frontlines of the COVID-19 pandemic. So, in addition to working for lower taxes, better jobs, and high-quality schools for our children, Mark and his wife have committed themselves to keeping our families and our community safe.
